Master of Ceremonies

There are a lot of factors to consider when putting together a raffle. The prize is generally the focus of the event, with the custom printed, numbered tickets working as a garnish for the main course.

It’s possible to add some spice to that main course by considering who you choose to draw the ticket out of that bowl, hat, or perpetual motion machine. In many ways, the personalities you select to be involved in the event are nearly as important as the prize itself.

Choose Wisely

Here are just a few options for MC or person to draw the winning ticket:

  • Local celebrity
  • National celebrity
  • Someone helped by the charity
  • Founder of the charity
  • Local volunteer/organizer

Each of these people will offer a different level of interest and response from the attendees. In many cases, local celebrities are a better choice than a national celebrity, as they are easier to book for an event and the demographic in the area will most likely be more familiar with him or her.

On the other hand, someone who is involved with the charity either from the giving side or from the receiving side can do a better job of making an educated, impassioned plea for assistance.

Center of Attention

No matter who leads the event, it’s important that he or she be able to represent the cause everyone has gathered to support. While a volunteer who logged the most number of hours would be a great choice to draw the winning Raffle Ticket, someone with more experience speaking in front of an audience and warming up a crowd would be a better choice to host the event.

In the end, though, it’s a good idea to have someone special picked out to select the winner, as it makes the big moment just that much more exciting.
