Available In: TicketBench Enterprise.
Often, a project you are working on needs to have information on both the front and the back. If the back contains all static (non-changing) data, you could design two separate projects and do two print runs - one for the front and one for the back. If each side contains variable data that needs to match the information on the other side, however, you will need to create a double sided (duplex) project in TicketBench in order to correctly print this information.
To create a double sided project, click on the File menu and select Page Layout to open the Page Layout window. Click on the Paper Size tab along the top of the window, check the Double Sided checkbox, then press the OK button.
If you decide that you no longer wish to have a double sided project, click on the File menu and select Page Layout to open the Page Layout window. Click on the Paper Size tab along the top of the window, uncheck Double Sided checkbox, then press the OK button.
Note: Changing a double sided project to a single sided project will remove any data that is on the back of the ticket.
Working with a double sided project is similar to working with a single sided project. There are some differences, however:
You may only view one side of the project at a time. To view the back of the project, click on the View menu and select Back. To view the front of the project, click on the View menu and select Front.
If you need to have a Serial Number appear on both the front and back of the project, simply make sure each number's properties are the same. If you need to have Random Number appear on both the front and the back of the project, make sure each number's properties are the same, that each of them has the same seed number, and that the seed is locked. If you need to add an Imported Data field, add the data field to one side of the project normally, then copy the desired data fields, view the other side of the project, and paste the copied items.
If you add a Stub Line to the project, it will be mirrored on the other side. For example, if you add a stub line 1.5" from the left on the front of the ticket, it will also appear on the back of the ticket 1.5" from the right. Any changes that you make to the stub line on one side will be reflected in the stub line on the other side.
Note: On the back of the ticket, left and right are flipped. This means that the left side of the ticket on the back corresponds to the right side of the front and vice versa.
You can preview a double sided project the same way you would preview any other project. Click on the File menu and select Print Preview to open the Print Preview window. Inside this window, you can switch from the front of the project to the back of the project by pressing the View Front and View Back buttons in the toolbar. Everything else is the same as a normal print preview.
Depending on your printer, printing a double sided project can be a little more difficult than printing a single sided project. If you would like to print both sides of a projects, set the Print Side option to Front and Back. You can also choose to print just the front or just the back of a double sided project by setting the value to Front or Back respectively.
If your printer is capable of printing double sided documents (i.e. duplex), you should be able to print normally. TicketBench will communicate with the printer to determine proper method of printing the front and the back.
If you printer is not capable of printing double sided documents, TicketBench will ask you what you would like to do. The following message will appear:
The selected printer does not appear to be capable of printing double sided documents. Would you like to simulate double sided printing?
Press Yes to simulate double sided printing.
Press No for regular double sided printing.
Press Cancel to stop printing.
Press Yes to simulate double sided printing: If your printer cannot print double sided documents, TicketBench can simulate a double sided project. In this case, it will print the front of each page, then wait for you to indicate that the fronts have finished printing. After the fronts have all printed, place the printed back into the printer's paper tray, and press the OK button in TicketBench. TicketBench will then print the back of each page. Since each printer needs to have its paper placed in a specific manner in order to print on the back side, it is strongly recommended that you do at least one test print in order to determine the proper way to re-insert the paper.
Press No for regular double sided printing: Occasionally, TicketBench is unable to correctly determine whether the selected printer can print double sided documents. If you are sure your printer can print double sided documents, press the No button to print double sided normally.
Press Cancel to stop printing: If you do not wish to print to the selected printer, press the Cancel button to abort the current job.
Note: If your printer is not capable of printing duplex, it is strongly recommended that you do at least one test print in order to determine the proper way to re-insert the paper in order to print on the back.
